“If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine…”

Just a few quick updates:

1) Earlier this week I learned my short story “House of Endless Skies” was picked up for the winter (Dec. 1) issue of The Red Penny Papers (http://redpennypapers.com/). The editor called it “one gorgeous piece of mangst.” After a few weeks of what was starting to feel like a bit of a drought when it comes to submissions, this was very encouraging.

2) This week’s Southern Fried Short is “Nike’s Resignation” —

3) It’s been busy, busy, busy around here. Basketball season has started once again for my oldest. I can’t believe how big he looks out there sometimes. It’s amazing how time flies. I find it hard to believe this is already his third year with our city’s league.

4) So much for fall. Looks like winter has arrived here in the South. Lows last night were in the low thirties/upper twenties. The same is expected tonight. There was a ton of frost this morning. While taking an afternoon hike with the boys today, it was downright frigid at times when walking through the shadier spots.  But why would that deter us? It was absolutely beautiful today. Now we’re sitting around and warming up with cocoa.
