A full Lake!*

16 10 2009

I’ve been so busy with edits lately that I have not written too many new words. However, an idea that has been hounding me for the last few weeks finally pulled itself together and the urge to write new words became too strong to ignore. I completed the entire short story, "The Comfort of Shadows" (about 2,500 words), in one sitting.  Man, that felt good!

Also, my story "Here There Be Dragons" was accepted by Drops of Crimson for their next issue to be published Halloween night!

Not a bad way to start off the weekend…

How are all of you doing? Anything new?

*A "full Lake", for those who may not know, is about 2,500 words. This is Jay Lake’s minimum daily word count goal (see Observation #2 here: http://jimvanpelt.livejournal.com/163431.html).

Congrats on the sale!

Sorry to be asking, but could you please not do small type in the future? I have horrible eyesight and it is really hard to read πŸ˜›

Thank you!

Sorry about the font — that was an accident (I only meant to change the font on the note at the end of the entry). I changed it.

A Lake is nothing to sneeze at, bub! And congrats on the sale!

I’ve got just over a Lake the other day and have racked up 5k this week as I round the final curves on the novel. Yay!

Cool. How much more novel is left to go?

T.J., the end’s so close I can smell it. I’m having strange half-dreams at night regarding scenes. All the subplots are twining together, and it’s a six-to-seven chapter race to the finish. Blood. Gore. Glamour. Shamanistic trips. Man, I tell you, it is *fun*.

Thanks. I hope the story manages to be as evocative as the title. The story is actually a lot more light-hearted than the title might suggest.
