It was a great week when it came to writing. My current project, the science-fantasy themed collection/novel set around the world hinted at in "The Last Wet Place" and "The Dreamer Awakes," is moving ahead nicely. I wrote another 13 stories; about 7,000 words. Right now, the project is at around 13,000 words in length. It has been a challenge to tell a cohesive story in individual stand-alone pieces of flash fiction (I am aiming to keep each story under 1,000 words) — there is absolutely no room for back story — but so far, it has also been a lot of fun. I’m having a great time exploring many themes/characters while still — I hope — moving forward with a cohesive story when the collection is read as a whole. I hope to have the full collection done and ready to go out to publishers by the beginning of summer. If I can keep up this momentum, it should be done even sooner.
