In terms of my own writing productivity, there has not been much progress. The day job has been hectic, and home even more so.
I wrote a short story that was begging to come out, but other than a couple hundred words the WIP has been sitting idle. I’m hoping to get it moving along today and make a good dent in what I have left. I really want to have this thing done by the end of the month, but with the craziness coming up that surrounds Thanksgiving, it’s looking unlikely.
*UPDATED 12:20* — got in around 1,700 words today.
THE JOY OF FATHERHOOD:
Last weekend, we went to The Riverchase Galleria to see the Christmas lights after the lighting ceremony. The mall was packed: humanity encapsulated like sardines in a tin. Why do they have to turn the heat up so high on a cold day? Sure it’s cold outside, but everyone is bundled up…
Anyway, the baby was not feeling well. He cried the whole time we walked around. Inside the Build-A-Bear shop, I lifted him up on my shoulders so he could get a better view of the stuffing machine which fills the bears. He stopped crying, and even laughed — It was a miracle!
…but then he threw up.
I thought it was a burp at first, but then it felt warm on the crown of my head. My wife looked at me, covered her mouth, and laughed. I touched my hand to my head and knew.
It looked like the world’s largest eagle had flown overhead and dropped a poop bomb on my head.
Ahh…Fatherhood.
