Not only did I mow the lawn (always a struggle with my little push mower I refuse — and can’t afford — to give up), I exceeded my writing goal last week on the WIP:

I took last night off afterwards to take my oldest to watch our local minor league baseball team (The Birmingham Barons) play a game. He was more interested in the family play place full of inflatable toys than the game, but we had a good time and got to watch the last few innings together. Our local team lost, but my son was okay with that. He liked the “blue” team better (the opposing Montgomery Biscuits ,,,, what kind of mascot is that? Are they doughy?) One of the guys who played for the Biscuits tossed us a game ball after they won. We were sitting right behind their dugout.
It was a fun night. The weather was great.

Today’s to-do list:
*Edit a story of mine for a specific market.
* Respond to a minimum of three submissions to SFW and shrink the sub pile just a little. It is starting to tower over me.
*Write 1500-2000 words on the WIP (my biggest challenge for the day — I’m stuck in the narrative right now).
*Hopefully get all this done while the youngest takes his morning nap so I can spend the afternoon playing with the boys.
Broke the 10k mark!
Good job, sir! Great success!

Thanks. Let’s just see how many of those words make it past the second draft…

awww that was nice of him to toss you a ball. glad you had a nice time
It was a good time. I’m really glad he tossed us that ball. We missed a foul ball earlier in the game and it made my son cry because he really wanted it. Getting a ball directly from one of the players after the game was even more special for him, I think.
oh yeah i bet that was even more special. how old is he?
He’s 5.

Congrats on getting the writing done – I only managed someething like 500 words all week… Day job INSANITY.
What market are you aiming for with 65K? I work with a publisher who wants that kind of length for e-books (www.daverana.com), but a little longer (80K) for novels.
I can completely relate. It goes that way some weeks.
I don’t know about a publisher, yet. I understand most speculative fiction publishers want over 80k for novels, but honestly don’t feel that these books need to be that long. I always enjoyed reading shorter novels, especially as a young adult which is the age range I was targeting when I started writing the series. I really don’t understand why every book has to be so long these days. So many of the books I read these days seem full of “filler” we’re better off without, IMO.
